Vermeer’s motif. Apartment in Wilanów

Warsaw, 85 sqm

The starting point in the design of the apartment was “The Milkmaid” – the famous painting by Johannes Vermeer. It was from this painting, evoked in the form of a large-format photo wallpaper, that we drew the distinct combination of cobalt blue with zinc yellow, which later appeared in the kitchen design. The investors’ courage allowed us to realize this idea, as well as to use other striking solutions. Two more wallpapers covering the entire wall can be counted among them. One, with a stucco rosette motif, is visible as a backdrop to the sofa in the living room. Another one, with monkeys frolicking among vines, is in the bathroom. Here, the witty design by Piero Fornasetti himself continues with a lamp featuring chasing squirrels by the Karman Italia brand. As a counterbalance and complement to these elements, we proposed high-class minimalist design. It is represented by classic Philippe Starck designs for brands like Fiam (mirror) or AXOR (fixtures), Emme Mobili chest of drawers, clock, and Vitra chairs. The white marble table is the work of the Polish brand Uncommon Design.
