The Nature of Modernism. A Single-Family Home in Harmony with Its Architecture and Interiors

Żelechów, Mazowieckie, Poland. 220 sqm

Here’s one of our most exciting recent projects. We had the opportunity not only to design the interiors but also to collaborate with RAMA studio led by Radosław Maleńczuk on the architecture itself. As a result, this suburban home in Żelechów is a perfect example of synergy—from the spatial layout and the building form inspired by Alpine chalets to the surrounding forest landscape. In line with the investors’ vision, nature meets the spirit of modernism, and together they shape the atmosphere of the entire house.

At the forefront is mid-century modern—the style of the 1950s and 60s. A strong feature of that era is the stone wall, visible not only on parts of the façade but also inside the living room. The echoes of that time can also be found in the proportions of the sofa and the forms of the coffee tables. The dining chairs and bedroom armchair bring to mind 1970s modernism, while the kitchen cabinetry expresses a contemporary interpretation of the movement. The latest trends in design are reflected as well in the vases from the Grôpk studio.

The palette of noble materials—solid wood beams, fine veneers, marble, quartzite, and soft wool carpets—adds warmth and tactility, emphasized by layered lighting. Our goal was to create interiors that feel natural and welcoming, while the double-height open space also maintains a representative character.

The private zones—with a master bedroom and bathroom in a zen, cave-like atmosphere—offer intimacy and calm. They soothe and restore. By contrast, the home gym feels almost like an outdoor pavilion, thanks not only to large glazing but also to optical effects created with oversized mirrored panels.
