Red Velvet: A Music Connoisseur’s Lounge

The investor’s intention was to create a bold interior for relaxation—whether in the company of loved ones or simply accompanied by favorite recordings. For lead designer Piotr Łucyan, it was also a rare opportunity to incorporate one of his favorite colors—burgundy. This hue, which defines the open-plan living and dining area, takes on the shade of well-oxygenated blood. According to the owner, it makes the heart beat stronger.

An elegant color frequently seen in the décor of prestigious concert halls—including the nearby National Philharmonic—burgundy appears on the walls and ceiling, including the moldings, as well as on upholstered furniture. It also runs through the veins of the white-and-red marble framing the portal between the two sections of the lounge and graces the tabletop. At the same time, the refined silhouettes of many contemporary design icons are accentuated by the muted tones of the flooring—French oak herringbone parquet.

The focal point of the arrangement is a Bang & Olufsen audio system, a top-tier piece in terms of both sound quality and design. The project was recognized by the jury of the 2025 “Sound in Architecture. Architecture in Sound” competition.

“Courage and a conscious approach to design are what set this project apart. Much like Bang & Olufsen products, Piotr Łucyan’s concept captivates with its uniqueness and determination in shaping space,” noted Marcin Szczelina, jury member, architecture critic, and editor-in-chief of Architecture Snob magazine.
